Continuous Professional Training Courses 2018
The Need Articles 17(1) and 17(2)(a) of the “Directive regarding the certifications of persons and the certification registers” (RAD 174/2015) as amended in 2017, state that: 17(1) Persons registered in the public register shall be obliged to renew their registration in the public register within two months from the end of each calendar year that follows their registration in the public register. 17(2)(a) Persons registered in the public register shall be deemed to have renewed their registration when they submit to the Commission a statement of continued professional training on topics that fall within the existing legislation on the capital market, of a duration of ten (10) hours for persons registered in the public register for the basic examination and of a duration of fifteen (15) hours for persons registered in the public register for the advanced examination, for each calendar year. The purpose of the above provision is to ensure that, the persons registered in the public register («certified persons») are informed of the legal framework, they are obliged to comply with, when they provide/carry out investment services/activities. The Aim To satisfy CySec’s provision, for Continuing Professional Training, enabling CIF’s employees to maintain their certification. To expand the knowledge and competence of CIF’s employees. To answer and solve questions participants might have in the taught syllabus. George Papanicolaou Experience George Papanicolaou has more than 18-years experience in the Financial industry. He worked for several years in managerial positions as area Manager, Head of Brokerage, Compliance Officer, Anti Money Laundering Officer, General Manager and Executive Director in Cypriot Investment Firms as well as Managing Director of GP GLOBAL LTD offering consulting services and training courses to Investment Firms, focuses in Internal Audit, compliance & AML issues. He offered numerous courses/seminars both in Cyprus and abroad in Investment Firms Law as well as in Compliance & Anti Money Laundering. George Papanicolaou is also a Chairman of a Nomination Committee in a company listed in the Oslo Stock Exchange. Education George Papanicolaou holds a BSc in Electronic Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (USA), an MBA with specialization in Finance from Leicester University (UK) and a Postgraduate Certificate in the Mechanics of Risk Management from Middlesex University (UK). He also holds an ICA International Diploma in Anti Money Laundering from the International Compliance Association and the University of Manchester, as well as an Advance certificate from the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission for the provision of investment services/activities. He is a Fellow of the International Compliance Association (FICA), Mentor of ICA new students, member of the Cyprus Institute of Internal Auditors and Network chair for Cyprus of the International Compliance association. Stathis Christofi Experience Mr. Christophi began his career as an external auditor with Andersen Worldwide and Pannell Kerr Foster. He then joined the internal audit department of Eurobank in Greece. After spending 3 years with Eurobank he joined HSBC’s Investment Banking division in London where he was Associate Director in the financial institutions group, specializing in mergers and acquisitions as well as capital raising transactions for banks and other financial institutions. He was also Chief Financial Officer and a member of the investment committee at Dafolia Management (family office) in Amsterdam. His latest role was that of Chief Financial Officer at a Global FX Broker. Education Mr. Christophi holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of Essex and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (FCA) and a Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE). Demetris Kyriacou Experience Mr. Kyriacou began his career in the financial services industry as a registered Securities Representativewith Raymond James (USA). He then worked on several Global organizations holding key positions such as Head of Portfolio Management and Chief Financial Services Manager at ICFI (part of Interros Group) as well as Director of Financial Services and Chief Compliance Officer at FxPro Financial Services. He then joined IronFX Global where he held the role of General Manager and Chief Compliance Officer. Mr Kyriacou is an expert in Global licensing and setup of investment firms in multiple jurisdictions as well as compliance and regulatory related matters. Mr Kyriacou is also a member of a committee in a company listed in the Oslo Stock Exchange. Education Mr. Kyriacou holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Michigan State University and an MBA from Eastern Michigan University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a holder of various professional certifications issued by the CySEC (Advanced level) and the HCMC (Financial Instruments and Market Analyst). Mr. Kyriacou has also held the Series 63 and the Series 7 certifications. |
